Quarantine Cooking - A Recap

What's that one thing you did this quarantine?

More like that one thing you 'started' because of the lock-down?

Cooking is it?

I am sure most of you would have thought of that, the moment you read the question!

There are times when all of us have been put under the radar for why we don't help around in the house when all the other kids are so active (if only they knew!)

Fortunately for all our family members, the pandemic did one thing good - blossomed chefs in each corner!

With plenty of time in hand and nothing to do, we took to kitchens and learnt recipes, experimented with a lot of new crazy stuff. Surprisingly, some of these even hit the trend!

Guessing what?

Well we had the Dalgona Coffee make it's feature on almost everybody's stories!

You wouldn't even know and there are so many new food blogging pages launched during this time, each posting a different recipe for the simplest of dishes.

However, there's always a psyche behind what people do and why they do certain things. To go deeper into the matter, a survey was done asking people what made them take up cooking of all activities, when they are locked inside their houses.

Busy schedules and a lack of time was what obstructed them to cook earlier. A balance between work and activities that one likes is usually a mind game. The structure of planning your day does become hectic and often we lose out on things that we want to do.

Quarantine cooking is about more than just feeding yourself. With all external sources providing food being closed down and with no help, it's just families getting together and bonding over food. Children learning old recipes, trying out trends, older people just experimenting with tastes and spices.

Apart from all the obvious reasons, home cooking has been a way to pass all these hours and be productive along with adding skills to our development. It does act as a therapy for anxiety and stress and a channel to push away all fears into.

Not just families, quarantine cooking has been the talk of the hour on all social media platforms too. Be it Whatsapp, instagram, twitter, you'll see people sharing dishes that they have made and there is a cool community spirit that arose when sharing recipes and pictures of food became a part of the routine.

For some cooking was fun whereas for others to learn cooking had become a necessity - people living out by themselves, children in guest houses, had no other option but to take up cooking.

Whatever said and done, all of us did fall into this pursuit. Mothers and fathers are happy that at least this made their children own up-to the interest of making dishes - be it cooking or baking. We are happy to learn something new and follow this trend adding up-to it each day. So it's a win-win for all, indulging and maintaining the rush of bonding over food and being more aware of a new field everyday.
